29.02.2008 / 13.10 Speed
Few minutes before 13.00 the very last team of Speed race, Struś Pędziwiatr (42), Mirosław Chybicki i Radosław Myszka, with the time of 39h51m (time penalty was added to the final time, for lack of equipment). They perfectly fit in time limits and close Speed race on Bergson Winter Challenge 2008. Congratulations.
While waiting for the team we looked into history of BWC and here's what we've found: it seems that our road runners started taking part in our race in 2005 but have never finished it, so this is their fist time when they actually completede it. In 2005 they ended at CP5, following year at CP16 and in 2007, at CP11. Good job guys! Respect to your tenacity.

29.02.2008 / 11.30 Speed

29.02.2008 / 9.30 Speed
Right before 9.00, extReMool (76) and Bory z Jeżem (81) come to CP15 with special task together. What a rivalry! 7 minutes before, JointAdVenture (56) also got the CP so one of the bridges is already taken, Bory z Jeżem need to wait. Almost in the same time Czechs all female team SOFT-TRONIK / SALOMON-RUN.CZ (58). The girls are doing the task together with Bory... They are faster than guys and reach the finish 2 minuters earlier. Incredible ending.

29.02.2008 / 20.00 Speed
Incredible "fight" for 5th and 6th place took place before 8:00PM. 20 minutes after CRISOL AT (36) 2 teams, at exactly the same time showed up on the bridge: Russian Kant-Deuter (31) and Ukrainian Kant-Ukraine (52). The finish race started on special task, they rushed into the finish with 2 minute time difference. Kant-Deuter were first, Kant Ukraine got 2nd as 6th team. Ukrainians, most likely, have got time penalty (lack of equipment) which will be added to their final time.

29.02.2008 / 17:40 Speed

---
29.02.2008 / 17:27 Speed
We've got the winners of SPEED race. After 19h27m JSC JASŁO (84), Łukasz Szumiec and Tomasz Leśniak are getting to the finish and grabbing 1st place of Bergson Winter Challenge 2008. Congratulations.
---
29.02.2008 / 17:02 Speed
JSC guys on the bridge already. They should be soon leaving. Navigators in the meantime broke gear hook in one of their bikes. They had to fix it and that which costed them time loss and leading.
---
29.02.2008 / 16:50 Speed
There are 2 standpoints of rope bridge on ST. So if both leading teams entered at the same time we could witness pretty big show. On the other hand, the way back from Hala Łabowska isnt't too complicated, 30 minutes of time advantage is a lot.
---
29.02.2008 / 16:40 Speed
2nd team showing up at CP in Hala Łabowska is Brubeck Risk team (87). It looks like on the way from CP13 to CP14 they took over Navigators, still with 30 min time loss to the leaders. Checking-in at CP 14 took them literally a minute. Where are the Navigators?
---
28.02.2008 / 16:20 Speed
CP11 on Wierchomla informed us about arrival of 21 teams so far. Team SX SPORT FREERIDE TEAM (68) quits minutes after arriving to CP5. They are resting in TA, rest of the teams started mountain biking stage. 50 teams are running to the finish.
.
---
28.02.2008 / 16:20 Speed
JSC JASŁO on Hala Łabowska (84). Now only rope bridge descend at CP15 and the finish. They might even meet up with Masters' 10th team.
---
28.02.2008 / 16:00 Speed
Twister Adventure Team (1) entered the special task at CP38. 30 minutes to the finish.
---
28.02.2008 / 14:40 Speed
Two first teams at CP13. Polish JSC JASŁO (84) is expanding the time advantage. 13 minutes in front of Navigator Suunto (91).
---
28.02.2008 / 13:40 Speed
Speleo Salomon Suunto (83) resigned. Remik and Darek were seen at CP on Kicarz for the last time. They probably went back straight to the base from there. We do not have any confirmed information yet.
---
28.02.2008 / 11:00 Speed
First three teams on Hala Labowska, equipment check-up.
---
28.02.2008 / 10:30 Masters
Estonians and Latvians on the finish. Mountain Loghome Adventurers (5): Pilvi-Heli, Margus Marrandi, Andres Minn, Leivo Sepp crossed the line at 9:25. Latvian-Estonian ELITA/VAUDE (11) Urmo Liblik, Reigo Luurmees, Dace Tranina, Janis Blanks reached it exactly at 10:10AM.
---
28.02.2008 / 10:00 Speed
Some news from Speed race. Navigator Suunto (91) are pushing hardly, went through Przełęcz Bukowina at 9:23. Next, in 5 minute time differences Brubeck Risk team (87) and JSC JASLO (91). Right behind, Russian Kant-Deuter (31) and Dannish Roadrunners - Adventureracers.dk (40). In top 10 also: CRISOL AT (36) and chasing them napieraj.pl (67) and WOSZK Gronik (46). Our one member only team, Aleksandr Olivson from Ukraine who particpated in Masters race, is closing first ten starters.
7 teams have resigned so far. Four of them you already know, three next: Vibrations-in-Sports after CP2, after CP5 Beriza Team (59) and 2xTEAM (89) after CP6.
---
28.02.2008 / 09.00
Another sunny day here in Piwniczna. At night we had an impression that winter is coming back. At night the temperature went down to -5°C, no snowing though. Now it seems that today is going to be warm and beautiful, well, 3 - 4°C. They say it's going to rain tonight.
But what on the route... Mountain Loghome Adventurers (5) almost on finish, on the bridge at the moment. With 20-minute time loss, ELITA/VAUDE (11) should be there in half an hour or so. They have no chance to overtake other Estonian team now. Last team, the Finns, after 6:00AM left TA in Piwniczna and are currently starting trekking stage. They still have time, they still fit time limits.
---
28.02.2008 / 04.30
Tilak / OpavaNet / Merida (10), at 3:57, passed the finish line. Marek Navratil, Gabina Junova, Tomas Petrecek, Ales Dytrt didn't come alone, there was a little doggie with a black spot on his eye with them. They met him 38km before and so he was walking with them. Happy smiling four, or five I should say, went back to the hotel.
Awaiting the Czechs in Piwniczna Zdrój, we met two of the Speed teams: napieraj.pl (67) and Atak Muminków (73). "The Moomins" attacked the centre of Piwniczna heading towards mountain hut in Wierholma (CP3). They are 6th team so far, so first ten then, napieraj.pl seventh one right behind. Both teams feel okay.
We also got info that teams www.visit.malopolska.pl (60) and eXtremalni.pl (49) have finished their adventure with Bergson Winter Challenge. Thank you for taking the challenge!
---
28.02.2008 / 03.00
Speeds are running forward, rest of the Masters are getting closer and closer to the finish. Czech Tilak/OpavaNet/Merida (10) should be there around 3:30. They are coming down from Kicarz to the bridge in Piwniczna Zdrój. Only one last special task, rope bridge with bikes, and they are off to the aim, it's only 10 minutes from there. Estonian Mountain Loghome Adventurers are reaching TA D.
---
28.02.2008 / 02.00
Two first teams from Speed race decided not to continue. Vibrations-in-Sports (54) withdrawal was due to illness of one of its member. We do not know what's the reason of GALILEOS PLAN TEAM (48) resignation. We also got informed that the way to Wiercholma is very slippery and some of the racers scored few falls. Next teams are appearing in TA and getting first, usually short rest. First five teams leaving CP3 as follow: 0:36 - JSC JASŁO (84), 0:52 - Bory z Jezem (81), 0:54 - CRISOL AT (36), 1:08 - Roadrunners - Adventureracers.dk (40) and 1:00 - Kant Ukraine (52).
---
28.02.2008 / 00.45
We've got our first leader. JSC JASLO (84) checked-in at CP3 on Wierchomla first (0:31). But that's just the beginning, everything might and probably will change.
---
28.02.2008 / 00.00
56 teams have reached CP1, 5 teams are still struggling. Navigator Suunto left it first, at 10:35PM. The last one was JointAdVenture which went forward at 11:40PM.
---
28.02.2008 / 23.00
A bit of gossip from the route. Few times, doing scorelauf, have mistaken CP D location and instead of going to Maly Kicarz went to Duzy Kicarz. The teams have to get back and check-in at CP D. What a time loss!
---
28.02.2008 / 22.15
Remember Aleksandr Olivsin from F.A. participating in Masters race? They quit after CP15 but Olivsin decided to continue in Speed. He's running out of classification under no. 92. Good luck Olivsin.
---
28.02.2008 / 22.00
Off they go! Speeds on the way! First stage is short, 5km-long orienteering run. 6 CPs in the area of Piwniczna Zdroj. The fastest teams should make it in about 30 minutes.
Later bikes and 33-km long route. First CP in the mountain hut in Obidza.

---
28.02.2008 / 21.58
Shortly before Speed race start, Ukrainian MILO TEAM have joined the group of teams which successfully finished the Masters race. Welcomed by crowds of racers, organizers and bystanders looked quite surprised, they didn't expect such fuss. It's 6th team already. Marchenko Konstantin, Artemenko Iwan, Dmitruk Oleksandr i Koneva Olga spent 81h54m on the route.
---
28.02.2008 / 20.00
61 teams from 11 countries have made a decision and picked up the gauntlet. Most of the teams (46) on Speed race are representing Poland. But we also have three teams from Denmark, couple of Latvian and Czech, as well as single teams from Germany, Ukraine and England. Same as every year since 2006, the Netherlands are represented by Winfried Bats. And we can't forget about the Italians who have never started in any winter race before.
Most of the teams are male only (50), there's 10 mixed ones and one all female.
Among the racers there are many who started in Bergson Winter Challenge before. Some of them under same name, some are covering up and making up new ones. Marcin Pasznicki's team is our personal favourite, "I like beads" back in 2006, "We are sewing the sandals" in 2007 and this year, "The Dogs". Items of clothing didn't bring them any luck, they haven't finished any of the races before. Maybe this time? GO DOGS!
There are also many contestants who could successfully participate in Masters race. Navigator Suunto (91), Speleo Salomon Suunto (83) and Adventura (88) belong to the group of favourites. CRISOL AT (36) (Michał Dzik together with Justyna Fraczak, participated in Mini Bergson where they got 1st place in Mini Mix category), GALILEOS PLAN TEAM (48) and YORK SYSTEM AT (75) also have big chances in running for gold.
We are also hoping for strong teams in the middle - napieraj.pl (67), SX SPORT FREERIDE TEAM (68). Maybe this time, Daniel Krasulak will think twice before choosing the right route, back in September, during Poland Championships he lost quite a lot of time after choosing rather weird way back from Tarnica. There's also Lukasz Szumiec who won Mini Bergson in Mini Solo category. Czechs teams are also pretty strong: SPORTSERVIS MONTANA (63) i SOFT-TRONIK / SALOMON-RUN.CZ (58). Jan Kotik and Petr Mil were participating in Masters race before so they should know how to fight on a winter race like this.
Good luck to all of the teams, and less problems with updating the website to us.

28.02.2008 / 20.00
Lots of excitement before beginning of SPEED Race. Only two hours left!
This year's SPEED Race contains of 4 stages: Orienteering (1), Mountain Biking (2, 4), Trekking (3). The racers will have to complete three different special tasks; rope-ladder ascend, rope descend and rope bridge with bikes. All together, 150km-long route. The temperature this night should stay around 0°C, no rain, no snow. Rather springy climatic conditions should make it easier for the racers.
---
28.02.2008 / 19.30
Czech Tilak/OpavaNet/Merida (10) have reached TA in CP34. Teams Twister Adventure Team (1) and Team YIT (9) should appear at CP35 in Hala Labowska in about half an hour. ELITA/VAUDE (5) and Mountain Loghome Adventurers (5) are on the way to CP31 where from it's only 38km to the finish. We are waiting for next , impatiently.
---
28.02.2008 / 19.00
The Speeds are getting ready, oiling the bikes, borrowing missing equipment etc. while 6 remaining Masters teams are still on the route. The closest to finish, Ukrainian MILO-TEAM (2), are somewhere on the way to Kicarz, should be there any minute. Then it's only 1.5h to the end. They will make it.
---
28.02.2008 / 17.10
Well done to another team which finished the race just now. Aberdeen Asset Managment from the United Kingdom at 5:10PM appeared in the place where we all have been awaiting them. For four its members, Warren Bates, Nick Gracie, Iona Robertson and John Laughlin, the race has came to an end.

---
28.02.2008 / 17.09
While some of the teams continue the challenge on Masters race, at Speed's homebase over 60 teams are making preparations. The briefing, equipment check, last amendments. There is still time to examine the map and choose the best route. We remind you that speed race starts at 10PM.
---
28.02.2008 / 16.00
The English, who are at CP38 doing rope bridge at the very moment will finish the Masters Race in any minute. We're waiting for the guys on the finish.
---
28.02.2008 / 14.45
On the route, another Czech team Tilak/OpavaNet/Merida (10) biking towards Hala Labowska, after which, 2 last stages. In 1-h time differences three teams are closing the Masters Startes, as follow: ELITA / VAUDE (11), Mountain Loghome Adventurers (5) and Twister Adventure Team (1). Out of classification also Finns. Team YIT (9) showed up at CP28 right after 2:00PM.
---
28.02.2008 / 14.30
After 74h 25m, Rain Lond, Randy Korb, Urmo Alling and Ruth Vaher, the make-up pf ISC Adventure Team (3) very tired but happy, passed the finish line. Congratulations.

---
28.02.2008 / 14.10
There are still 6 teams struggling in Masters Race. Aberdeen Asset Management (4) and MILO-TEAM (2) are climbing to the mountain hut on Hala Labowska. The English have got 3,5-h time advantage over the Ukrainians. Those spent nearly an hour in TA while Aberdeen had enough after as little as 10 minutes. The Ukrainians, same as Estonians decided to take skis (although they don't must to anymore). It was snowing at night and in the morning but disappeared without trace. They say it is possible to use skis on the way back from Wierchomla for about 15km.
---
28.02.2008 / 13.30
ISC Adventure Team are dealing with rope bridge at the moment, in few minutes they will open their bottle of champagne.
---
28.02.2008 / 12.20
And so we were right. Exactly at 12:01 Czech SOFT-TRONIK/InternetBillBoard (12): Libor Uherf, Jiri Lorenz, Tomas Bohaty and Barbora Bohata reported on the finish. It took them 72h01m to complete the race and came as 3rd.
---
28.02.2008 / 10.30
Around 10:00 started running for Kicarz. When Estonian left Wierchomla they had about 30 minutes loss. They lost another 30 minutes in Hala Labowska. If they will be doing same as Speleo and Navigator they are expected to pass the finish at noon.
---
28.02.2008 / 09.16
It's been only 2 hours and 12 since Navigator has finished the race and another team has just (9:16AM) passed the finish. Congratulations to SPELEO SALOMON who fought bravely all that time. They showed up in Piwniczna Zdrój smiling and, surprisingly, pretty energetic, maybe a little bit disappointed that they came 2nd. Piotr Kosmala, Anna Burlinova, Piotr Hercog and Piotr Dymus finished the race after 69h16m, they can be proud.
The members of a team closing the starters is dealing with STs at CP25 at the moment, the rest is bravely moving forward from CPs. We've got a new day, the sun is smiling to the racers, most of the route is behind. Who's going to appear on the finish as the 3rd? Czechs, Estonians? We will find out in few hours, good luck to both teams.

---
28.02.2008 / 07.04
BERGSON WINTER CHALLENGE 2008 has got a winner. Exactly at 7:04AM, as predicted, in the light of rising sun, Navigator Suunto Poldim (14) crossed the finish line. CONGRATULATIONS to all its members: Miroslaw Szczurek, Justyna Fraczek, Maciek Dubaj and Slawek Labuzinski. 415km took them 67h19m, WELL DONE!

---
28.02.2008 / 06.50
Yet another team fall out of classification. Team YIT (9) left one of its members at CP25. Swollen leg doesn't let him to continue. The other three decided to run for more.
---
28.02.2008 / 06.30
Third runner, Czech SOFT-TRONIK/InternetBillBoard (12) just went out from CP33 on Mount Pusta Wielka, Estonian ISC Adventure Team (3) is chasing them with only 8-minute time difference! Fight for bronze? Teams are running to TA on Wierchomia, will they get any rest?
---
28.02.2008 / 06.00
Navigator Suunto Poldim (14) left Kicarz (5.50). Just one task on Poprad river (rope bridge) and...
Almost in the same moment Speleo leaves CP35 with 3,5h loss to, I think we all can say that, the winners.
---
28.02.2008 / 05.00
Careful readers probably have noticed, that leading Navigator didn't listen to our logistic manager and haven't showed up on the finish line yet. At 4:22AM they passed Przelecz Bukowina and are "hopping" to Mount Kicarz. Now it's literally down the hill. Will they, like "children of the rising sun" come to the finish line with dawn of the day?
---
28.02.2008 / 03.30
Last info from the route: Navigators with major steps forward are heading towards the finish line. They should be there any hour. We were informed that the team left CP35 in Hala Labowska at 2:48. 12 minutes of rest was enough. Speleo Salomon (13) is getting farther and farther from them, lowering the chances of winning the race, it's 3-hour difference just now. SOFT-TRONIK/InternetBillBoard and Estonian ISC Adventure Team (3) are fighting for bronze, CP32 they left at 2:34 and 3:05AM.
Wind stopped blowing for good and, believe it or not, it started... snowing, high time.
---
28.02.2008 / 00.20
Mirek with his team (Navigator) showed up on Wierchomia. Got something to eat, got something to drink, will fly in a minute. Now it will be only easier.
---
28.02.2008 / 23.30
So we know how the leaders are doing but do not forget about the other teams racing. We have mentioned about Swede's withdrawal already, the Czechs who were continuing the race out of classification, decided not to go any further and during Scorelauf stage got back to the hotel.
The Finns (9), 2 Estonian teams and Latvian-Estonian ELITA/VAUDE (11) are still struggling. Rest of the teams on bikes. SOFT TRONIK/InternetBillBoard (13) on third position, continuously, exactly at 11:30PM they left the mountain hut on Hala Labowska, 5 hours to leading Navigators. Estonian ISC Adventure Team right behind with only 1 hour loss, they still have chances to fight for a medal. English-Scottish Aberdeen Asset Management (4) and Ukrainian MILO-TEAM (2) must grown fond of each other as they are walking head in head. Then, Tilak/OpavaNet/Merida (10) which after 8PM left CP27 in Skamieniale Miasto, nature reserve.
---
28.02.2008 / 23.06
Navigator Suunto Poldim (14) have reached the peak! It took them 3 hours. They are gliding ahead to Wierchomla now. Considering lack of snow, the skiing stage was cancelled and as a result, racers do not have to carry the skis on the next, the last stage. If the leaders won't make any mistakes they should cross the finish line around 4 in the morning, our logistics manager predicted.
---
27.02.2008 / 18.30
Around 6PM today Swedish Extreme Sports (15) had no other choice but to resign. The girl from their team was taken to the hospital. She's very weakened and will stay there for another few hours. Rest of the team went back to Jamna and got some sleep but did not decide to continue the race without her.
---
27.02.2008 / 15.10
The weather is tricky today, sunny at once, raining in another minute, it doesn't help. The route might surprise at some parts, not always in a nice way. But teams are moving forward. Estonian Twister Adventure Team (1) has just showed up in Rozdziele and going towards CP21 where another ST - rope ascend and descend - has to be done. Teams which are on the scorelauf stage at the moment admit that it lets them gain more energy which they surely need. ISC Adventure Team still on the 4th position, heading to Ciezkowice waterfall. Teams MILO/TERM (2) and Aberdeen Asset (4) are still struggling with ST in Ostrusz. Spelelo Salomon is trying hardly to shorten time difference between them and leading Navigators. Which one of them is going to cross the finish line first? Or will it be another team maybe?
---
27.02.2008 / 13.00
CP 27 with Special Task, angle rope descend with bikes was checked by Salomons. Between check points 26 and 27, Piotr Dymus left his team for a while and had gone too far. He had to get back which costed him extra route and some time loss. Special Task was no problem to this team. So after a short time, at 12:32, they set off to old quarry in Libratowa. They need to pull themselves together if they want to catch up with Navigators. Another two teams (11) ELITA / VAUDE and (5) Mountain Loghome Adventurers got to Babia and in times 12: 17 and 12:28 had set off back on route. We are still waiting for last team (1) Twister Adventure Team which is expected to appear at any moment on CP19.
---
27.02.2008 / 01.00
Navigator Suunto Poldim (14) had taken lead considerably . As the only team they checked at CP27 at Skamieniale Miasto reserve. Team had some problems during the night. They had difficulties with finding CP23D and decided to start a scorelauf stage with this exact point. This chosen point has more obstacles in climbing than any aother in this stage. The easiest way to go through Stage 6 is starting it alphabetically - going from CP23A takes less time and has smaller heights differences. The rumour about injuries in Speleo Salomon team is way over truth. Team is in great shape and in good humours they got to CP25 at 10:42. Both leading teams has about same time rest so overall nothing change in time differences between teams. All other teams are still duping scorelauf. We expect that SOFT - TRONIK / InternerBillBoard (12) is first to finish it because till now they only got to CP from four to check.

27.02.2008 / 07.00
Another beautiful morning and another CP was reached. And Navigators did it again, showed up first on CP22. Speleo just behind, they don't want to waste any minute, don't fancy a nap either. The Czechs (12) also in TA C already but these decided to get some sleep. Will the Estonias manage to overtake them? On last CP both teams have visited, there was just an hour between them, not too much, is it?
---
27.02.2008 / 03.20
Second day of Masters race was very exciting. The favourites in lead but rest team classification might be surprising for some. Same as last time, Navigators with 2h time advantage over Speleo. Third Polish team Deuter Adventura (6) who many bet to fight for a medal, unexpectedly fell out. Third stage has ruled out another two teams, F.A. (7) from Ukraine and Czech ALPINEPRO/NUTREND/MERIDA (8). "Estonian horse" in the form of ISC Adventure Team, event though not a leader yet, knows exactly what is doing and has got a plan but didn't want to share on TA B after trekking stage. The Swedes are strong and doing well. Right behind them and sometimes even before, islanders from the Elizabeth's kingdom, Aberdeen Asset Management (4). In the end, Estonians and Latvians with a plan to finish the race.
Half way of Masters race behind them but it seems the 2nd part of the race will bring even more surprises.
---
27.02.2008 / 02.15
Navigators have completed ST in Roznow (CP21). Rope ascend and descend took them 45 min.

27.02.2008 / 01.15
You haven't heard from us in a while but, as you probably already know, we've been fighting with our server nearly as hard as our Masters teams on the race. Technology, technology.
We gladly inform you that detailed results are finally up. Go, study, analyse and check them regularly.
Navigator Suunto Poldim (14) is our new leader. They showed up on CP19 before Salomons (13) and have more than 1h time advantage over them. The 3rd team has also changed. ISC Adventure Team (3) got a little lost on the way to TA in Wietrznica and SOFT-TRONIK/InternetBillBoard (12) took advantage of it to CP19 got as the 3rd already. The time difference between those two isn't too big though.
Second team has resigned from the race, another one is continuing out of classification, in three. Ukrainian F.A. (7) decided to quit after CP15 in Czorsztyn, they did not have enough energy for ST. And this is really surprising, for a long time they had been in lead. As for Czech ALPINEPRO/NUTREND/MERIDA (8), Renata Strakova had dehydrated very badly and weakened at the end of trekking stage. After medical intervention the girl was taken to the hotel. She feels better and getting more rest. Rest of the team is heading forward. They crossed CP18 just after midnight.
Also Swedish Extreme Sports (15) and English-Scottish Aberdeen Asset Management (4) jumped on their bikes. We had a chance to talk to them on the Wdzar mountain, both were taking naps on the way and are doing great, they also want to fight.
Rest of teams are still struggling on trekking stage. We are waiting for Estonian teams and Latvian-Estonian mix ELITA/VAUDE (11), which are closing the starters, in TA B.

More teams showed up on CP16. Quick change of clothes and special tasks. In the time when captain of a team from the UK (4) was assigning the tasks to its members, John Laughlin took a little break but had to get up quickly as he found one the hardest task - angle rope ascend - is his. It took them nearly 40 minutes to complete the tasks but proud and glad moved forward to another CP. Swedish Extreme Sports (15) informed us that between the stages they took 3-hour long nap and had some problems with finding one of CPs which are the reasons of the time loss.
We got false information that MILO-TEAM has resigned, to all of you who might have heard the rumour, we assure you that the Ukrainians feel very well and at the very moment are resting on CP17.
Sorry for lack of updates for many hours but the server is down, most of the time.

26.02.2008 / 17.20
Two teams are in TA B on CP16, Speleo at 16:40 and Navigator 11 minutes later. Polish teams in lead, invariably. In the meantime, CP13 was reached by three last teams, as follow: ELITA/VAUDE (11), Mountain Loghome Adventurers (5) and Twister Adventure Team (1). Even though they close the starters, members of all three teams are very relaxed and in good moods. What they want to achieve is to finish the race and cross the finish line with smiles on their faces, they are not running for medals.

26.02.2008 / 16.20
Overcoming weaknesses, dealing with stress and pressure must be the most amazing feeling when going for a race. Polish teams Speleo Salomon (13) and Navigator Suunto Poldim (14) as well as Estonian IST Adventure Team (3) showed up on CP16, former quarry on the Wdzar mountain. On this ST teams have various tasks to complete: single rope ascend, climbing, rope bridge and rope ascend. The place seems to be ideal for this kind of tasks, especially vertical working faces which form a beautiful, western-like scenery. Speleo Salomon left first at 13:34, 20 minutes later another Polish team went for next CP, the Estonians left right before 3:00PM. We're waiting for rest of the teams to arrive.

26.02.2008 / 13.30
Our attention was called earlier today to our mistake considering nationality of two ELITA / VAUDE (11) teammates. Partners to Estonians, Janis Blanks and Dace Tranina, come from Latvia, not as we wrote before Lithuania. We are really sorry for this mistake - it will not happen again and we do promise self-improvement. ELITA / VAUDE (11) are bravely charging at the stake end. They are 5h off to leading team. They were last seen at CP12 which they left at 12:31. They should already reach Szczawnica by now. Best regards to the whole team.

26.02.2008 / 13.00
Leading teams marked CP at Czorsztyn castle. Castle exploration takes just a moment, literally. SPELEO SALOMON (13) has 10 min up to Navigator Suunto Poldim (14). At the moment we do not have any information about the Estonians. After CP14 they had only 30 min delay to leading polish team. Next three of stake (F.A. (7), SOFT-TRONIK / InternetBillBoard (12), MILO-TEAM (2)) passed Trzy Korony just after noon. It looks like Swedes slowed down at a climb and let Ukrainians pass them. Meanwhile, we closed CP at Przehyba. All teams had already checked out.
---
26.02.2008 / 10.50
Salomons and Navigators finished Special Stage and are off to Trzy Korony. It appears the teams are walking together.
---
26.02.2008 / 10.40
Swedish Extreme Sports (15) had already set off to Trzy Korony. After rope bridge in Szczawnica, Swedes have 40 min delay to Czech SOFT-TRONIK / InternetBillBoard (12), which had taken over their place before ST. They both, however, have 2-hour loss to the leaders. 1/3 of the race behind but anything might happen.

27.02.2008 / 9.20
We now can confirm Adventura's withdrawal. It appears to be the result of Magdalena's hip contusion which she started to feel at first stage, while running around Piwniczna. Later it was just getting worse. Every ascend, pain has been giving Magda a very hard time. Just after Szczawnica (CP13) they were supposed to go for Trzy Korony. Because it's a hard climb, team decided not to risk Magda's health anymore and quit.
Meanwhile SPELEO SALOMON (13) left Szczawnica as first (departing time: 8.13). After half an hour Nawigatorzy (14) started chasing them up and just a moment later, recent leader ISC Adventure Team (3). Ukrainian F.A.(7) and Czech SOFT-TRONIK / InternetBillBoard (12) are still doing ST in Szczawnica.
Once again, we apologize for our server, we are not able to upload the results yet.

26.02.2008 / 07.00
Right before 6:00AM in the light of rising sun, first teams appeared on CP12. And we do have some changes in the lead! ISC Adventure Team (3) lost a minute to Polish Deuter Adventura (6) and Speleo Salomon (13) which came first, at 5:51AM. 16 minutes later after the Estonians, the last of Polish teams Navigator Suunto Poldim (14) showed up in Przehyba. Teams didn't want to waste a lot of time and in the very same moment or after just few minutes, they were leaving for CP13 and ST, rope bridge.
---
26.02.2008 / 04.15
10 teams have completed ST already. The majority have done it perfectly well but in addition to the punished teams mentioned before, extra 30 minutes will be added to the final time of Extreme Sports (15). Kayack track in Wietrznice, where the teams are pontooning, doesn't belong to the easiest. Wind, cold, bad light only make it worse.
On the short films, which now are available to download, watch the stunts of some of our contestants (Deuter Adventura and F.A.)

Teams are heading towards next CPs in the moonligh. Above them, beautiful, starlit night, kilometres embellished with frost, fresh, freezing air will keep them awake.
---
26.02.2008 / 02.15
Another trekking stage has begun, ISC AT in lead. Navigators have also made one mistake on ST and got 15 minutes of penalty which means the time difference between them doesn't change rapidly. SPELEO and Adventura did the slalom faultlessly and so they make up for the lost time which now classifies them in front of Navigators. Everything might still happen here. Ukrainians and Swedes just got on the boats...
---
26.02.2008 / 01.45
Meanwhile, Czechs teams passed half-way point of the 3rd stage as follow: SOFT-TRONIK / InternetBillBoard (12) at 1:10AM and ALPINEPRO/NUTREND/MERIDA (8) at 1:32. Together with 3rd Czechs team, which is probably somewhere close around, they are right in the middle of the starters. Scots and Finns are still relaxing before mountain biking stage. Ukrainian MILO-TEAM (2) left the castle just before 1:00AM and is running to Gabon (CP10).
For now, we are waiting for the ST results (pontoons) and the rest of the teams which haven't showed up in Piwniczna yet.
---
26.02.2008 / 01.30
1:03AM - Estonians on ST. Without taking a rest (it's also TA) they went straight to the pontoons but finished the slalom with a penalty for skipping one of the sticks. The next ones, and here is the surprise, Polish Navigator Suunto Poldim (14) with 20-minute loss to team 3. If we add the penalty to the estonian time it will be only 5, unless the Poles will not make any mistakes, naturally.

---
26.02.2008 / 01.00
Not much has changed in the classification. ISC Adventure Team (3) incessantly in lead. The runner-ups also still the same (6, 7). At this time of night we can't talk about spring-like weather anymore. It got cold and windy, especially high in the mountains. And it isn't easy to run - the roads are icy and slippery. The leading teams are just about to reach ST. The other three haven't got to the forester's lodge in Gabon yet (CP10). Only three last teams weren't seen in TA A yet: Estonian Twister Adventure Team (1), Mountain Loghome Adventurers (5) and mixed ELITA/VAUDE (11). The rest is still catching the breath in TA or left for the next stage already.
---
26.02.2008 / 00.10
8 out of 10 teams which arrived to TA A already left for the next stage. Second group of teams chasing the leaders includes Navigator (14), Speleo (13) and Extreme Sports (15). The time differences between those three aren't too big (about 5 min) but they are 35 minutes behind the best ones. They didn't waste time in TA either and immediately left for the race. It seems that Navigator and Speleo decided to celebrate our membership in the Schengen zone and "visited" our Slovakian neighbours. Now they have to really speed up if they want to catch up with the Estonian leaders, especially that ISC Adventure Team (3) showed up on CP10 just after midnight and are heading towards next ST.

25.02.2008 / 23.10
Forefront is strongly heading forward. 15 minutes was enough to get changed, jump on the bikes and go for the next stage - short and quick ending with ST: rafting and slalom. It's only 350m long but it won't be easy. Teams have to be really careful, they are not allowed to skip or even touch any of the gates, they might end up punished with time penalty - 15 minutes. The leaders are already in Rytra Castle. First three teams march basically together, the Poles (6) and the Ukrainians (7) are only 6 minutes behind the Estonians (3).
---
25.02.2008 / 22.25
For the last few hours we've been struggling with our server. Unfortunately, we are not able to refresh detailed results at the moment, we also loose connection with you once in a while. We are back with few updates and are really sorry for the delay.
3 teams showed up in Transition Area A, ISC Adventure Team (3) is not willing to give the leaders tittle away. Right behind them, with only 10-minute loss, Deuter Adventura (6), which between CP6 and CP7 took over Ukrainian team F.A. (7) which was 15 minutes quicker before. We do not have accurate times from CP7 (self-service). In general, all of the teams got to Obidza (CP6). The last one, Estonian Mountain Loghome Adventurers (5) has 3-hour loss to the leading Estonians.
---
25.02.2008 / 19.25
ISC Adventure Team still in lead. They have just reached CP on Radziejowa where first Special Task needs to be done, rope-ladder ascending and rope descending that is.
---
25.02.2008 / 18.50
Yet another reshuffle. Estonian ISC Adventure Team (3) took over the other rivals and arrived first on CP5 (at 6:29PM to be exact). One minute later Ukrainian F.A. (7), after another 15, the whole "train" of teams got to Przechyba: Czechs (12), Poles (6) and Swedes (15).
Now, following red trial, the highest peak of Beskid Sadecki - Radziejowa. We expect the first team there around 7:30PM.
---
25.02.2008 / 16.30
TV crew, waiting for the contestants on SS, has confirmed that all of the leading teams were "caught" in Wysokie Skałki. The Swedes were complaining about the icy trial. They probably had to carry their skis more than actually use them.

---
25.02.2008 / 16.30
6 teams have appeared on Wysoka. And here we have first reshuffles. Extreme Sports (15) are our current leaders. The Swedes decided it is time to push. Before the start, as well as the Finns, they were hoping for good skiing conditions to go through the stage quickly. Behind them, Deuter Adventura (6), Magda must have urged the guys to hurry up as on the last CP they were just 9th. Right behind them, Ukrainians. Both teams left the peak at the same time.
---
25.02.2008 / 15.10
All of our Masters teams have reached CP3 and are heading towards CP4. Navigator Suunto Poldim in Bacówka na Obidzy, where CP3 is located, showed up first, Speleo Salomon and Estonian ISC Adventure Team were just behind. They all would probably love to stop for a longer while to try some regional meals and feel the amazing atmosphere of the inn but there's no time for feasting yet!
---
25.02.2008 / 12.40 Orienteering
As we have predicted, the first stage turned out to be a very quick one. Most of the teams have finished the orienteering run in around 40 minutes. At 12:35PM the first one ISC Adventure Team showed up on the 1st CP. A minute later Swedish Extreme Sports and teams as follow: 14 Navigator Suunto Poldim, 10 Tilak/OpavaNet/Merida, 12 SOFT-TRONIK / InternetBillBoard at 12:37, Ukrainian MILO-TEAM at 12:38. In few next minutes teams 1, 9, 7, 4, 5, 6, 13, 8 have also arrived. Check the results section (which will be up very soon) for details. The longest it took Team ELITA/VAUDE to get to the CP1. The girl from the team left her card on the start, what she noticed no earlier but on CP A. While she was going back to get it, the guys had no choice but caught some sun. Because of the whole situation ELITA/VAUDE lost 1h to the leading team already. And this is just the beginning.

---
25.02.2008 / 12.00 ...and it all begins
Ladies and gentlemen, all of our teams have just gone ahead! Fingers crossed. We don't know who is moving forward on the first positions yet but all the times we will be posting in the results section. In well good moods and full of energy our contestants set out on the race with smiles on their faces. Is this the sun's contribution? The weather is too kind!
First stage is 5km long Orienteering run. Teams have to find 5 different CP located in the Piwniczna Zdrój area. It's a short stage especially when compared to the other ones but it doesn't necessarely has to be easy. They have to climb Kicarz (702m a.s.l.) which will be a very nice warm-up before the next stages.

25.02.2008 / 02.01...about Masters route
This year's Masters route contains of 9 stages, 9 special tasks (ST), 2 special stages (SS) and over 400 km to cover. Teams will begin with a quick and short stage of Orienteering in Piwniczna. Cross-country skiing and Trekking afterwards. On the 25th km of route teams will be already on the level of 1000 m a.s.l. and as some snow is still there the competitors will have the first chance to use their skis. During this part of the route teams are going to reach the highest peak of Beskid Sądecki - Radziejowa (1266 m a.s.l.) and are going to do first special task. 3rd stage is 48km-long Mountain biking. And there will be a wet surprise waiting for them - rafting it means. Next, Trekking again, this time with two special tasks and Czorsztyn castle exploration. The following stages are Mountain biking and Trekking back and forth which ends in Wierchomia. The last stage - Cross-country skiing again with the 9th special tasks. After 414th km teams should show up back in Piwniczna.
Considering good weather conditions it might be a pretty quick race. The first team is expected to appear on the finish line on Thursday.

25.02.2008 / 00.01...about Masters teams
Monday 25th, exactly at noon - Masters race will begin. 15 teams will "take off" right from the heart of Piwniczna Zdrój. 15 teams among which we have 3 top Polish teams, 3 Estonian, 2 Ukrainian and 1 mixed Estonian-Lithuanian. Our south neighbours are represented by 3 strong Czechs teams. From the North we have teams from Finland and Sweden. And finally, closing our Masters starters, a combined English and Scottish team. We do not know much about those. We know one of the Scotsmen, John Laughlin, whom on BWC we see for the 3rd time. In 2006 he participated in the Speed race (leading TONTO AND THE LONE RANGER) which he did not complete but decided to come back the following year, this time to take part in Masters race. Unfortunately, his international (German-English-Scottish) team did not succeed either, so maybe it will be 3rd time lucky for John..
All of the Estonian teams are undoubtedly the strongest in their country. It is not the first Bergson Winter Challenge for any of them. The most experienced one, ISC Adventure Team, had its first time back in 2006, classified in the 4th position last year. They also did very well at ARWC2007 Scotland which they finished 13th. Surely they have a chance.
Twister Adventure Team (2nd time here) and Mountain Loghome Adventurers (BWC2007 and ARPC2007) have never got a chance to cross the winter finish line. They certainly have something to fight for, especially as they are familiar with the winter challenge. We remind you that Loghome Adventurers finished Adventure Racing Polish Championships as the 2nd team loosing only to their Estonian friends Team Vaude. Half of the winning team united with Lithuanian ELITA will set out tomorrow as ELITA/VAUDE, both of which are the leaders of Baltic Cup 2007. In addition to that, Lithuanians know BWC pretty well - for the first time they showed up in Poland in 2006 on a Speed race, than in 2007 on Masters, and although they have not completed it, they are not the weakest link in the group. The Estonians are strong and The Lithuanians have the experience - if it clicks they do have a chance to content for a good position.
Ukrainian team Milo-Team are debutants but their compatriots F.A. are a well-known team which last year finished the race 30 hours behind the winners Speleo Salomon. This year they have slightly modified the team. Instead of Verchenko, Viacheslav Turok is going to start. For some of the team it will be the 3rd BWC and they have the chance to finish the race for sure.
The Czechs are represented by 3 teams: SOFT-TRONIK/InternetBillBoard compete in BWC for the very first time and therefore are an unknown quantity, but what we already know is that ALPINEPRO/NUTREND/MERIDA is a little bit modified team of a teacher from Prague, Tomas Venka who starts in BWC for the 3rd time. In 2006 Tomas and his team got bronze. It's a very strong team which we are sure will be heading strongly towards the finish.
Tilak/OpavaNet/Merida is the last of the Czechs teams. They didn't make it last year but they belong to the group of the strongest teams in Czech Republic. This year it is going to be the first time for one of its competitors Ales Dytrt who specializes in cross-country skiing. It doesn't seem like he is going to get to show off as the weather condition are not favourable.
Finnish Team YIT are the bronze medallists of Baltic Cup 2007 and two-time winners of Endurance Quest (2006, 2007) - the longest and the most difficult race in Finland. They have Jarno Mikkola in the team, the experienced one at BWC having participated in 2006. Back then he was a part of SK POHJANTÄHTI which did not complete the race. Hopefully, this time he will have more luck.
The last foreign team is Swedish, the very experienced Extreme Sports. Together with a Finn Ingrid StengĆrd, they exceptional racing experience and are one of the strong favourites.
The Polish teams also belong to the group of favourites. Our last-year winners Speleo Salomon this year participates in a slightly different group. Anna Burlinowa - the Russian contestant replaced Agnieszka Zych who wasn't able to get out of work. Anna took part in BWC in 2006. None of three Peters in the team is worried about her, they all remembered her as a very good and tough racer.
Runner-ups of BWC 2007 and the winners of BWC 2006, Navigator Suunto Poldim are not in the usual team either. It's a debut for Maciek Dubaj who before this race was taking part in rather short ones. The guys are ready and in form and we do hope that we are going to witness a close rivalry.
Deuter Adventura is another team from the last year, this time without the captain Maciek Olesiński instead of who Magda Łączak is going to be in lead. Maciek was replaced byt Igor Błachot who 2 years ago finished the race as the 4th one.
Good luck to all of the teams!

24.02.2008 / 14.00 Pre-race news
A lot is happening in the base of our race. Most of the Masters teams arrived yesterday. The Swedes joined last but not least late at night. Briefing at 2PM, obligatory equipment check-ups next.
It turned out there will be 15 teams participating in the Masters race. The Russian team resigned in the very last moment.

24.02.2008 / 13.00 Pre-race news
It seems that this year's winter adventure race Bergson Winter Challenge will not be as winterish as everyone thought and will pass off in rather spring atmosphere. The sun is almost in its full power (in Piwniczna: 11°C) melting down the last trace of snow. Luckily, in the level of 800 m a.s.l. it is still pretty much noticeable. Also the temperature isn't that high, at nights falls under 0°C.
Well, the weather is the only thing we can't really control. We have to remember though, that we are in the mountains and everything might change rapidly.
